EASY AND FUN ACTIVITIES FOR LITTLE ONES

Updated: Oct 29, 2020

Keeping the little ones entertained for weeks on end can be a challenge to say the least, here’s some of OZ Tots top tips for keeping tots and children entertained, without breaking the bank…

MAKE YOUR OWN NATURE TRAIL

Inject a little fun into your average walk. Before you go create a little ‘nature checklist’ in which your mini adventurers need to complete along the way. Add items to the list such as an acorn or a sycamore leaf- not only good fun as they forage around to find their goods, but educational along the way as they learn about the different types of trees.

COLOUR SORTING

Another great time-filler, whilst learning on the go! Paint some recycled items (milk bottle lids, ice lolly sticks etc.) using 4 different colours. Then on a tray create four corners, use a stopwatch to time your little one to sort out the coloured items in to the correct corner, see if they can beat their time on each go!

DIY PLAYDOUGH

Which child doesn’t like play dough? So easy to make and provides endless hours of fun! Simply take 2 parts plain flour, 1 part water and 1 part salt and mix well together using your hands. To make it a little more interesting add different colours by mixing in some food colouring.

JEWELLERY MAKING

Store up old cardboard toilet paper rolls and paint them different colours and cut do small loops to create ‘cardboard beads’ using string you can then create different necklaces and bracelets for littles ones to make and wear.

PAINT A PLANT POT

Terracotta clay plant pots are relatively cheap from local garden centres (50p-£2.50p depending on the size). On a nice day you can sit in the garden and get your tiny artists to paint their own pot! These make great keepsakes! You could then get them to pick a plant to plant in them and nurture them so they grow!
